New project: “El Escobar” Horticultural Fruit and Vegetable Plant

On 20 April, the foundation stone was laid for the "El Escobar" Horticultural Fruit and Vegetable Plant.

A project that began after the fire at the plant in August 2021. The Catala Group has decided to take advantage of this reconstruction to emerge stronger after last summer's catastrophe: a larger plant, with greater production capacity, a higher level of efficiency, increasing the digitalisation and automation, with a strong commitment to sustainability.

The new plant will be the most modern and dynamic in Spain and Europe thanks to the implementation and modernisation of the fruit treatment systems.

Total project surface area: 21.476 m²
Refurbishment Phase 1 (destroyed by fire on 26 August 2021): 15.526 m²
Extension Phase 2: 5.959 m2
Investment: € 28.500.000
Production capacity: 700 T/day
Employment: >350 jobs

Thanks to the Catala Group for trusting us to manage this ambitious project. It is an important challenge with a great emotional component. We hope that in 2023 the workers will return to the plant and resume their activity in these modern facilities.
