San Mateo Hotel SLU is planning the restoration and refurbishment of the Casa-Palacio de los Paredes Saavedra to convert it into a 5-star hotel. ARRAM Consultores has participated in this project by advising on how to obtain the necessary financing.
The project for the construction of the Hotel is backed by the prestige of two of the leading representatives of quality architecture in Spain. These are the architects Emilio Tuñón Álvarez and Luis Moreno García-Mansilla.

ARRAM Consultores has been involved in this project as the company responsible for the preparation, management and processing of the aid dossier. This procedure has been carried out through the Regional Economic Incentives Line.

The promoters of the present subsidy dossier are José Antonio Polo Criado and Juan Antonio Pérez Pozo. Both are professionals of reference with a long and extensive experience in the catering sector. They are currently the owners of the Atrio Restaurant in the city of Caceres, which opened its doors in 1986. The superb Atrio Restaurant in Caceres is one of the gastronomic summits of Extremadura, a temple of gastronomy. Atrio is known and recognised all over the world, it has won important awards and is cited and valued by the most important megastronomic and tourist guides. This restaurant has become an obligatory reference for today's Extremaduran cuisine. In 2010 they embarked on a new adventure with the construction of a Hotel and a new Restaurant. It was the birth of one of the 10 best hotels in Spain. The Hotel has 14 rooms in a unique building in the historic heart of Caceres.
TOURISM, LEISURE AND TOWN PLANNING
The present project involves the restoration and rehabilitation of the historic building Casa-Palacio of Paredes Saavedra. The house is located at number 3 Ancha Street, in the historic centre of the city of Caceres. In February 2017 the company San Mateo Hotel S.L. acquires the Casa-Palacio Paredes Saavedra. The objective is its restoration and refurbishment for public residential use. The international importance of this project is given by the inclusion of this five-star hotel in Relais & Chateaux. This prestigious chain has more than 500 establishments, including hotels and restaurants. All of them united under a recognised brand, appreciated throughout the world. Atrio Hotel-Restaurant already belongs to this brand.
ARRAM Consultores has extensive professional experience in the management of architectural and urban planning projects. The refurbishment of unique buildings such as the Casa-Palacio Paredes Saavedra is one of its specialities. An example of this is the project for the refurbishment of the Casa Carvajal-Girón into a 4-star hotel. For this reason, he predicts an excellent execution of the project.
The new hotel will more than meet the rigorous requirements of the high level that characterises the chain. Thus, it will form part of the select Club of Quality and Elegance of the Relais Châteaux International Chain.
The establishment in Extremadura of an establishment of these characteristics is motivated by a series of circumstances. The promoters consider the moment to be ideal, as they are able to meet the requirements demanded:
- It has a building of maximum singularity. In addition, it is located in an ideal environment, the old quarter of the city of Caceres.
- It also has one of the most important restaurant services in Spain. The Relais & Châteaux chain itself has awarded it the Relais Gourmand rating. In other words, the highest category in restaurant services.
Technicians in the sector consider that establishments of this type act as a tourist letter of introduction to the Autonomous Community in which they are located. The hotel itself will have a small collection of works of art by internationally renowned artists. Some of the works are owned by the promoters and others by Helgar de Alvear. They will therefore be permanently on display for the enjoyment of all painting enthusiasts. Exhibitions of the most important contemporary artists of the moment are also planned. The investment is estimated at almost 4 million euros and the hotel will have 11 rooms. The works are scheduled to begin in January 2019 and to be completed in autumn 2020.
